WINE TASTE & WINERY MUSEUM

VISIT TO KOUTSOGIANOPOULOS WINERY-ARGYROS ESTATE–VENETSANOS WINERY

Discover the traditional winemaking of Santorini as you sample some of the finest Greek wines on this luxurious semi-private or private tour. You’ll visit three different wineries and taste twelve different wine varieties, including the renowned Vinsanto.

Santorini is known for its indigenous grape varieties, such as AssyrtikoAthiri, and Aidani. Additionally, seek out the Vinsanto, a sweet wine produced from sun-dried white grapes. The history of Santorini’s wine is one of resilience and persistence. Locals have been cultivating vineyards here for at least 3,500 years. An ancient volcanic eruption in the 17th century BCE nearly wiped out all signs of life but also shaped the island’s iconic topography and distinctive character. The vineyards are planted in rocky soil with minimal organic matter or clay. The absence of clay and the presence of lava have prevented the spread of phylloxera. The vines are trained in a unique basket shape to protect them from strong winds and conserve moisture.

So, raise your glass and savor the essence of Santorini’s terroir—a blend of history, volcanic soil, and the Aegean sun
